| Budget Domain Registration and Hosting |
We currently offer domains ending in .com, .org, .net, .co.uk, and .org.uk. These domains are known as Top Level Domains (TLD - for more of this kind of advice see the glossary). These are the only TLDs available for the UK to the general public - other domains such as .ac.uk and .gov require special conditions to be met (e.g. for .plc.uk, you really have to be a PLC). For other international domains such as .fr for France the servers have to be based in that country and we are based in the UK. New domains of the type .eu.com and .uk.com are available -we plan to offer these soon.
We charge 4p per domain monthly for a minimum of two years to host your domains. Hosting your domains means telling the registration authorities responsible that our computers will manage the domain (for what that involves,see the glossary). All this work is done for you behind the scenes- there is nothing for you to set up yourself.
On top of the 4p per domain charge, you must pay the registration authorities a fee for the domain. We charge you an additional 22p a month for a UK domain (.co.uk, .org.uk) and 62p a month for a US domain (.com, .org, .net). This is because the registration costs are more for the US registrar than the UK registrar.
Our fees include setting up and maintaining the domain. A domain is not much use on it's own- that's why we include free web forwarding, and free email forwarding for your domains.
